Making a coat can sound really intimidating, especially if you are in the beginning of your dressmaking journey. However, it is such a satisfactory project! Nothing feels more of an accomplishment than that, don’t you agree? Personally, I love sewing coats and this season I have plans to make at least 3 of them. Today I’m here to share with you my DIY animal print coat, using the Simplicity 1197 sewing pattern.
Animal print has been very much on trend this season. I was very happy to see that, because I’ve always loved wearing it! So naturally, when I stumbled upon this gorgeous animal print wool on Minerva Crafts, I instantly knew that it was going to be my first coat of the year.
I am lucky enough to be a part of the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network AND their monthly reviewers group and as a result they very kindly provided me with this fabric so I could write my blog post for them.
The pattern I chose was Simplicity 1197, a vintage reproduction pattern that included a coat and a dress. It had been sitting in my stash for at least a couple of years and it was about time I used it!
To read more about my experience with this pattern and fabric, you can read my detailed review HERE.
I have also filmed a little behing-the-scenes vlog on my YouTube channel, sharing with you the process of making this coat. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Until the next time, happy sewing!
