Yes, I’m very much aware that we are in the middle of February and that almost every seamstress out there has already shared her #2017makenine but truth be told I was saving it for the launch of my new blog!
So excuse me for being waaaaay too late and let’s take a look at the nine projects I picked for 2017!
First of all, I should explain what this project is, in case you haven’t heard about it. It’s a project started by Rochelle New where you basically pick 9 patterns to sew in 2017. I found it really motivating and since I am a very impatient and very impulsive person when it comes to sewing I very much need some kind of planning to keep me on track.
It was very very difficult to pick only 9 patterns, but I tried to choose some that I don’t currently own and would like to purchase or some that I haven’t got a chance to sew. Let’s get started! The order is completely random!
Number 1 is the Betty Dress by Sew Over It. I already have this pattern in my stash, I fell in love with this dress the minute I sew it on their website and HAD to have it! That said, I am very intimidated by it! It requires a lot of fabric since it has a circle skirt and also has a fitted bodice which I’m not so comfortable making. That said, I will definitely give it a try, most likely in the Spring. There are different options for the necklines and the sleeves as you can see in the photos, I particularly like the scooped neck with the 3/4 sleeves.
Number 2 is the Brumby Skirt by Megan Nielsen. As you already know I adore skirts and I’m thinking something like the one in this photo or in a floral summery fabric.
Number 3 is the Alex Shirt. This pattern is included in the “My Capsule Wardrobe City Break” e-book from Sew Over it. There is a version for a shirt and a shirt dress. Although making a shirt seems kinda scary at the moment, I saw Hollie’s (aka Hollie Dolly) version and really want to make something similar! Let’s hope I can do it!
Number 4 is the Bettine Dress by Tilly and the Buttons. I’ve been seeing this all around and it totally suits my style. In the summer days I live in dresses like that so it can’t be missing from the list.
Number 5 is the Moneta dress by Colette Patterns. February is dedicated to this dress in the sewing community because of a Moneta Party that is organised by three lovely ladies. This deep red (or is it burgundy?) is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Number 6 is the Cleo Pinafore by Tilly and the Buttons! Everyone is making a Cleo these days and I can’t believe I still haven’t jumped in that bandwagon! So, it’s definitely on my list for 2017! This photo also belongs to Hollie 🙂
Number 7 is the Lola Coat, also from the Sew Over it e-book. I will be honest with you, I made this before but it doesn’t count because it was a complete disaster. I put it in the bottom of my bin and never want to see it again! I used a heavy wool fabric, tottaly NOT suitable for this kind of coat! I will give it another try in the right fabric though because I really like its unusual design.
Number 8 is the Coco Dress by Tilly and the Buttons. I will have to purchase this pattern and I expect to make many versions. Nothing much to say, except it’s adorable and very easy as everybody says!
Number 9 is the Silk Cami by Sew Over It. A simple cami is a staple for my wardrobe and I will simply have to make it in 2017.
So, this was my list of patterns to sew this year. Hopefully I can tackle each one of them on time and share it with you! If you wanna take part in this sewing project you can share your Make Nine with the hashtag #2017makenine for everyone to see!
Happy sewing,
Athina
