In case you don’t already know, before one of my sewing patterns is released, it is thoroughly tested by an amazing group of ladies who make the garment and test out every little detail: the fit, the instructions, the overall quality.
For the Meg dress and top, I’ve had the pleasure to work with a lovely bunch of seamstresses who did an amazing job! A thank you is not enough for their generosity and the least I can do is send you all their way, to follow them on Instagram and admire their makes. They created some wonderful versions of the Meg dress and top and you can see them all below.
@ohsewangelina: The Meg Dress is sure to be a summer staple in my wardrobe. It has a great fit and a subtle twirl! Who doesn’t love a soft twirly dress in the summer?
@jillypopssews: The Meg dress/top is a simple, beginner-friendly sewing pattern that lends itself to showing off pretty fabrics. The belt adds a touch of glamour to the classic shape. I love mine!
@theruralsewist: Meg is a fantastic quick sew, great for beginners and makes a lovely swooshy top or dress. Perfect for the summer season and very versatile for lots of fabric types.
Both the top and the dress I made I can dress up or down and a really comfortable wear that can be synched in at the waist or worn loose without the tie belt.
@sewnaturaldane: Another WINNER Athina, very nice and simple dress. The perfect pattern to really allow the fabric to stand out.
@tomkatstitcherycarmel: Athina has created another wonderful base pattern. The simplicity of the shape and neckline of this dress and top make it perfect for showcasing beautiful fabrics. This is one of those patterns that can be completely transformed by just using fabrics of differing drape.
@indoorshannon: The Meg Top and Dress is a fantastic pattern. It gives you a stylish and easy to wear design with very few steps. I love the neckline and the length of the top. Perfect to throw on with jeans or make a little dressier with accessories and fabric choice.
@sewbee73: I love the style of the Meg Dress and Top. I like the slim fit through the bodice and like the belt that ties the dress in at the waist to give definition to the figure. I like the darts and dart location. The skirt is loose but not too wide and fits in with the style of the top. I am very happy with the finished garment. I will make a top next and will make another dress in non-sheer fabric.
@mapley.made: This dress is so perfect for all of the summer weddings I have this year!. The neckline makes the dress look really chic and put together, and the belt gives my waist the perfect amount of definition. It was such an easy sew, and looks so put together with the belt. I made mine out of a rayon crepe woven and am bound to make more!
@sewnbysoraya: The Meg is a great beginner project as its super easy and there are no closures! You can make either a top or a dress out of multiple woven fabrics to create your own individual look. You can dress it up or down, depending on your fabric choices and your accessories.
@divadoesdiy: I’m already a big fan of Athina’s patterns, but she continues to impress me with her new designs. The Meg Dress is the perfect summer dress for wovens. I don’t know how she does it, but she manages to achieve polished elegance with a simple, easy-going shape. The neckline is perfectly drafted and flattering. The belt loop detail is pretty and practical. I love the length and the shape of the sleeves. There is no question that I’ll make this again– it’s one of my new favorites.
@hinze.laura89: This top went together so easily. It has such a flattering fit, and a beautiful neckline. I was surprised at how quickly this woven garment could be put together! With no closures, it is a fast sew. The tie belt pulls the waist in for a really nice look! I definitely recommend this pattern!
@debbiemirabito: The Meg Dress is an easy, beginner-friendly pattern giving a very comfortable garment, taking minimal sewing time. It is a fantastic layering piece under your favorite jacket or cardigan.
@denise.does: The Meg top and dress pattern is simple in the very best way. It’s quick to sew up and I can see more versions in my future.
@ninjabreadgirl61: The Meg Dress is a stylish dress for everyone! I used an Ankara print to test this dress. It is well-written and easy to follow! The bust darts give the Meg dress sass and class!
@thesewcraftybaker: Meg is a simple but beautiful top and dress that can be worn every day, or easily dressed up for a night on the town! It’s a fairly quick sew, and the best darts and tie make for a beautiful fit!
@alexisdcook1: This pattern is so great with clean lines that give you the freedom to play with patterns or accents or just have a closet full of beautiful well fitting dresses.
@sewing_epiphanies: Meg is a really beautiful pattern that’s easy to sew and looks great! Meg will be worn so much during summer, I chose a light chiffon to get the perfect summer dress.
@theladywholunches: This is great, simple sew with nice details and a good fit. Perfect for a special fabric! The pocket placement is spot on and I can’t wait to wear this dress during hot summer days.
@desert_blooms: The Meg Dress is a very quick and satisfying make. The bust darts add just enough shape to the breezy silhouette.
I made the top version too, and it was a great stash buster.
@heatherandthepugs: I thought this pattern was nice and the fit was good. I would probably make it again.
@bettyboopkin: The Meg is a classy, quick make top. It’s super versatile, the final top can be dressed up and down. I like that it lends itself to showing off my good fabric!
@lucymakes_things: The Meg is such an easy, effortless style. It came together so quickly and would suit so many different fabrics and occasions.
@gloopygoo: The Meg Dress/Top is a classic silhouette. I love this pattern because it fits well and it is very flattering. I will surely have many more Megs in my wardrobe
@ingelrelst: This is the perfect summer dress, flowy and airy. The belt is perfect to accentuate your waist, making it a wonderfully feminine dress. And what I love most is the fact you can sew it in less than an hour, start to finish!
@unsewcial: The Meg dress and top is a relaxed fit blouse that can be dressed up or down. It’s a perfect sew for beginners and experienced sewists alike, and the style should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. Pair it with jeans and flats for a stroll in the park, or up the anti with a pencil skirt, and a belt for office-appropriate wear! Definitely need a few more of these in my closet!!
@silverluna888: I love unusual fabrics and an interesting print. It is often difficult to find a sewing pattern that will correctly point out the beauty of the fabric. I made my first Meg dress in military print, then in lace, taffeta, satin, lightweight denim. I love them all.
@kunklebaby: I’ll definitely make another one of these! Its a simple, easy summer dress make. I really love the overall length of the dress. It will look just as chic is a bold, loud print as in a solid linen like I used this time. A pretty dress that will work well on many different bodies shapes and sizes. Will be easy to make some fun simple alterations to change up the look which I’m always into! Planning a split side hem for the next. The Meg Dress is a versatile wardrobe piece-stylish without sacrificing comfort. Easy to sew, easy to wear! I can see myself adding layers to Meg in the colder months.
