It’s finally time to announce the launch of the long anticipated Suzy dress! This pattern was going to be released back in the summer, but due to some unexpected changes, it had to wait a little longer. Needless to say I am very, very excited to finally share it with all of you, as it is without a doubt my most favorite design!
The Suzy dress is a very unique jersey (knit) dress with a faux wrap skirt than ends in a slit. The waist is gathered with elastic and it is designed with positive ease for a more relaxed fit.
It is a very comfortable and easy to sew dress, easy to style up or down. As one of my testers, Jill, said “Suzy is is a beautiful pattern that would not look out of place at a special occassion and with the comfort you always get with a jersey garment. It’s a winning design“
The pattern comes with two neckline variations: Version 1 features a scoop neckline, while version 2 comes with an elegant boatneck. There are also two sleeve lengths to choose from, short or 3/4 length, which makes this dress perfect to wear all year round.
The Suzy dress is named after the lovely and talented Suzy, also known as @sewing_in_spain . Her sewing story is featured in the pattern booklet.
What I love the most about this design is how flattering it looks on all body shapes. Like all my patterns, it is available in sizes UK 4-28. You can have a look at THIS blog post to see it on many other people of all ages, shapes and sizes.
The Suzy dress is easy to make and features some interesting techniques, like the construction of the faux wrap skirt and the elastic insertion. The pattern comes with very detailed instructions, but if you get stuck anywhere, there is also a free sewalong video guiding you through the entire process.
The pattern is now available in my shop as a PDF download. Two printing formats are included, an A4/US letter size to print and assemble at home and an A0 file to send to a copy shop.
I hope you love Suzy as much as I do. If you make your own version, don’t forget to tag me @athinakakou or @akpatterns and use the hashtags #akmakers #akpatterns #aksuzy for everyone to admire your beautiful dress.
