It’s this time of the year again, when I like to look back on the year that has passed and see where I succeeded, where I failed and set new goals! Needless to say I love planning and setting challenges for myself (but you already know that if you saw my Ultimate Sewing Planner). One of the goals of 2o17 was to complete my #2017makenineproject
Last year I “officially” became a dressmaker!
I managed to sew 105 garments! I know it sounds crazy, but as I said many times in the past I sew for a living (I have a small business called Craftaholic, where I design and sew kids clothes and accessories) so I’ve managed to be very productive and fast over the last 5 years.
Anyway, the #2017makenine was a challenge I participated in last year and you can read all about it in my previous blog post. I basically chose 9 patterns to sew over the course of the 12 months. These were my choices.
I’m happy to say that I managed to complete my task and create all 9 garments, with 2 exceptions or rather swaps. Basically, I swaped the Tilly and the Buttons Bettine dress for the Avid Seamstress Sheath dress. I thought they looked very similar and didn’t want to buy a second pattern when I already had the sheath dress. The other change was the Lola coat, which I swaped for the Cocoon Coat. The reason is that Lola requires a crazy amount of fabric for the long version and I wasn’t going to pay that much money on my first coat.
So, this is my Make Nine grid for 2017 (I am using the 2017 make nine page from the Add-on pack from my Ultimate Sewing Planner, I printed off my photos of the garments and sticked them in the boxes)
I also filmed a video about it where I talk in detail about each pattern. You can watch it here.
Now I have to finally decide what are the 9 garments I’m going to make for my #2018make nine, which is proving to be very difficult! I’ll let you know soon! Are you taking part this year? What are your 9 choices?
PS. If you want to read my blog posts about some of the patterns on the 2017 Make Nine, here they are:
