Hi friends! It’s been a while but life has been crazy lately. I have been sewing non stop for Craftaholic’s summer collection and I haven’t made many garments for me this month. But today I’m here to share with you my first ever shirt dress, the one I decided to enter in the #sewtogetherforsummer challenge.
I knew I wanted to participate since this challenge was announced, but even though I planned my dress about a month ago, I entered the last day of the deadline… I chose to make Sew Over It’s vintage shirt dress and I’m so glad I picked this lovely pattern! I’ll be honest, it wasn’t a simple nor a quick make, it was quite an involved project but the final garment is really worth the extra time and effort.
It was my first time making a shirt dress, as I said, and my biggest fear was aligning the buttons. I think I did a pretty good job! I opted for self covered buttons, although the fabric is quite busy so you might not even notice them! The construction of the collar was pretty staight forward and overall I’m very satisfied with my dress.
I posted this photo on my Instagram this week and it got soooo many likes and comments! I was speachless by the response, thank you all so much for your kind words!
I’ll be making more of this for sure as I think they’ll be perfect for autumn with the 3/4 length sleeves!
What do you think?
